OCR... more than running

Normally I take the name of the event as the headline. But this time it was two events and three runs: 13K Tougher Mudder in Arnsberg 13K Tough Mudder in Arnsberg 17k Break out Run in Nijmegen But let’s start at the beginning:   4:00 in the morning: the clock rings and I had to wake up. Absolutely not my time but it was not only a day. It was the day! We had planned something special. We wanted to run a triple and complete the distance of a marathon. 7:00 Gopal and I arrived in Arnsberg, the NRW Tough Mudder area. Here we wanted to do two of three runs. Both are nearly the same. There is only one different: The Tougher Mudder is a time race. Otherwise, the Tough Mudder isn’t a race and the time is not taken. But the track and obstacles are the same. And for both  one rule counts: One helps one another! We started with the Tougher Mudder at 8 o’clock.           It took around 100 minutes, and we passed the finish line after 13 km. Me first, ...

I told a lot about ToughMudder and other OCRs the last days! Once again this year we were in middle Germany (Arnsberg) to have a very special day! But I don’t want to replay myself. Nothing really special happened. Please don’t misunderstand me: It was a very great day, but the obstacles were mostly the same like last year. Nothing really special in comparison to the others ToughMudders happened. So, let me take a look on the side of the track. What happens directly beside you? Let me do a little homage to all the volunteer helpers: Thanks for helping! Without you not one OCR could be done! You instruct people, you show them the way, you help everywhere where help is needed and not at last you do everything for our safety! Great Job! You motivate us if we are at the end of our strength. Es ist so weit! Monatelang habe ich mich / haben wir uns vorbereitet. Die Anmeldung im Fitnessstudio lag nun schon 6 Monate zurück. Geschunden, gequält und trainiert habe ich mit großer Hingabe. Wird es sich ausgezahlt haben? Werde ich den Parcours bewältigen? 18KM, dutzende Hindernisse, tausende Liter Wasser und Tonnen von Dreck, Schlamm und Matsch warteten darauf sich mir in den Weg zu stellen. Aber ich war gewillt mich der Herausforderung zu stellen! ToughMudder 2016 in Arnsberg, NRW….ein langer, harter Trainingsweg lag hinter mir und ein langer, harter Obstacle Course Run vor mir!   Wir waren zu dritt! Das Training hatte seine Opfer gefordert. Zwei Kameraden, waren der Anstrengung erlegen. Einer krank, der andere hatte im Vorfeld bereits aufgegeben. Jetzt standen wir da.
