OCR... more than running

I’m sick of Corona and this weather! I - we all want to get our lives back! In the meantime, even a run does not help to get some relax!

 I need a good OCR and I wish this pandemic ended better today than tomorrow.

BTW: This is a real photo of the day! In the forest near my home, where I run regularly, we have many animals like eg deer.

One more time an event was only a virtual event. I would like to run with and against other people. I can’t tell you who much I hate this pandemic! Based on an obstacle course, the challenge today was to interrupt the run twice and do a series of exercises

 

Let’s start a new year!

Sometimes you want too much! Sometimes you have to die! This time I died!Every year in December there is the “ATG Winterlauf”, a 18 km long run. The track isn’t very good, it’s pity, but okay. It’s more fun because of my club! We run together! But I forgot my registration of the “ Light the Night Run ”. So I had to start at the winter run the morning after the night run. It was too much! I died at around 15 km. Lump sugar and some cake at the last water station gave me some power to survive the run. It was definitive too much, not enough rest and energy for both runs. I sadly lost around 15 minutes compare to the last year…..

     

What a weather! It literally screamed at me “Go out! Go and run!” So I did it today. Just a little run around the fields at my home. If this is a result of the climate Change, I like it. Sorry, don’t misunderstand me! I hate how we deal with planet Earth. But I like the sun and even more after o long period of winter and darkness. 

Straßenläufe sind ja so eine Sache: Man kommt im Training nicht drum herum, aber so wirklich Spaß machen sie keinen. Das wiederum ist natürlich Geschmacks- bzw. Ansichtssache und stark von persönlichen Vorlieben abhängig. Mir aber machen sie kaum Spaß. OCR’s sind aber kein günstiger Spaß. Hier werden schnell mal 80-110€ Startgebühr pro Lauf fällig. Von An- und Abreise- und ggf Übernachtungskosten ganz zu schweigen. Eine günstige Mischung sind Trail-Läufe. Und von diesen gab es am 19.01.2019 wieder einen in meiner Heimatregion. Es war also fast schon eine Pflichtveranstaltung, auf die ich von einem Laufkameraden aufmerksam gemacht wurde. Es galt eine Trail-Strecke von 21km (also ein Halbmarathon)  zu „überwinden“. Überwinden klingt mir zu negativ. Sagen wir lieber mit Freunde und Spaß zu laufen. Mittlerweile habe ich einige Freunde auch eben in der Läuferszene. A runner year of the extra class comes to an end. But not without topping all again! On 31.12.2018, the last day of the year and thus the last chance to change the annual statistics, six top athletes which Aachen has rarely seen met at the DLC New Year’s Eve 2018. Fortunately for the other participants, some top runners and members of the “ Lustlauf - Mein Verein e.V. ” fell injury unfortunately out. We met at the headquarter of the “ Lustlauf - Mein Verein e.V. ” where we prepared for the race together. After a short refreshment with home-baked carbohydrate-dripping cakes and a personal purchase consultation first our sprinters started: Ralf and Gabriele started in the 4.8km challenge. Of course, thanks to perfect training in the club’s weekly sessions, this was hardly a challenge for both. As I have already told, and you certainly know, most events are yearly events. So, in 2018 it becomes the third time I ran the “ ATG Winterlauf ”. It’s a big event with over 2000 starters in the running scene in my hometown. Even if it’s (in my opinion) not the most beautiful run, it is more or less part of the compulsory program. If you think you are a dedicated runner, you are taking part! So I did! Many friends from “ Lustlauf - Mein Verein ” took part. It was cold because especially at this event you have to wait up to an hour outside in the winter weather for the start. But sure it was again fun pure!

We arrived a little early at the ATG club home. Since we still had time, we enjoyed the still warm sun on the sports field, had fun and made the important selfie. The start was approaching, we were in the front third of the runners field and waited for the starting shot. “PENG” and off we went. First we had to run a lap around the sports field, to then leaf the sports field to go on the track. The track was very poisonous and hard. One rise followed the next. Some of them could only be walked, but not ran. And, because of the foliage, some downhill parts were very slippy. But, especially because of the foliage, the track was wonderful. I like the colors in the autumn. It’s crazy how wonderful the death can look. The Sun was shining, the weather was great and everywhere the smell and the look of autumn - love it! All runners were more than satisfied, with the services provided on the wonderful character trail and I got back to the ATG club home after 10,6km and 50:26 minut...

Lustlauf - Mein Verein e.V. wanted to make some self-promotion. We have a facebook account, an own website, and we are not unpopular. But advertising never hurts. So we wanted to make an image video. There were some ideas of what we wanted to film, but, sadly, nobody wanted to perform. So I did it alone….

 Also in July 2017 met again a few runners from my club  to participate in the 7th Aachen Night Run: Sascha, Jörg and me. Additionally, some other friends of mine take part at this race. I had decided at very short notice to participate in the night race this year. Although this run had already reached my attention, however, for 10km a starting fee of over 30€ did not seem appropriate. Shortly before the race I was (let’s say) subsidized by a runner colleague, which gave me the opportunity to get a starting place for a much smaller amount. In addition to the (for me) overpriced entry fee you can say about the organization not a lot of negative: Registration, start number issue, supporting program, food … all very good. And so we were in a good mood: Highly motivated and - as always - well-prepared, we started at 9:15 pm. One of the most popular running sport event in my hometown and at the same time almost the end of the sports year is the ATG Winterlauf. We, the Lustlauf - Mein Verein e.V., take part on this 18km (~11,2 miles) run from the old to the new clubhouse of the ATG. This event is held every year in the middle of December. The track is a mixture of street- and field run, with some trail parts. The great thing is, that it isn’t a round. We travel by buses to the start point. Once you sit in the bus there is no backing out! You have to run! As you can imagine, it’s a bit special. Further it is in the wintertime. It’s cold, mostly wet and if you are lucky everything is white because of the snow. I like to run in the winter. Okay, I like it in every season: summer, winter, spring and autumn. But in the winter the air is extra fresh! You breathe cold air extra deep. It feels great. And the look of the nature: white of snow, sleepy quiet and the special blue daylight. I love it! It’s...
